Are you currently searching for a Hoverboard? To help you with your purchase, we’ve have 5 tips on buying a hoverboard …

1. Take a Close Look at the Return Policy

Obviously, if you don’t like the product, or if something goes wrong, you should be able to return it, correct? There are some companies out there that don’t offer a return policy – for this reason, you need to take a close look at the return policy. Look for companies that offer a 30-day return policy. If you go for anything that is under 30 days, you could end up buying a horrible product with problems.

2. Find a Reputable Vendor

When you buy these products from Craigslist, you may or may not get a good quality product. For this reason, we highly recommend buying that hoverboard from a reputable vendor. If you go to a store that specializes in hoverboards, you will be able to contact them directly if you have a problem with the product.

3. Don’t Forget About the Battery

Hoverboards require a battery in order to move around – this is a big piece of the hoverboard … without it, it will be useless. Therefore, you need to make sure you’re getting a good battery. Lithium Ion batteries have a good amount of power behind them and are much better than the other type of rechargeable batteries currently on the market. Have you noticed hoverboards in the news that have been catching on fire? This is because people didn’t research the battery before they made the purchase – the cheapest batteries have a tendency to catch on fire.

4. The Wheel Size

The wheel size definitely matters. Where do you plan on using the hoverboard? If you’re going to be using the hoverboard outside, larger wheels will be your best bet. However, if you plan on using the hoverboard inside, any size will work. Most outdoor users go for the 8-inch wheels.

5. The Motor Wattage

You should definitely know the motor wattage. When you see a hoverboard that is small in size, you’ll probably find one with a smaller motor. Mind you, this isn’t going to have an impact on the weight limit, performance, speed, or longevity – you just need to make sure it is paired correctly or you may end up with an improper amount of torque for your wheels. If you’re going for wheels that are 6.5 inches, then 500 watts would be great. For 8 inches, 600 watts is ideal and for 10 inches, 700 watts is good.  If you’re looking for the best wattage per wheel, take those numbers and divide them by two.

With a little bit of research, you should be able to find a good hoverboard. Just make sure you stick to these five tips when you’re looking for one.
